The Real-Time Control Systems library is an archive of free C++, Java and Ada code, scripts, tools, makefiles, and documentation developed to aid programmers of software to be used in real-time control systems. Along with EMC it is used to pass messages within the different components of EMC. Compiling RCSLIB There are two ways of compiling RCSLIB. 1st way (the easy way) N.B. Currently only working for RTAI installs - RTLinux builds need to use the 'old way' You need to change directory to rcslib/etc (`cd rcslib/etc`) run the configure script (`./configure`) as ./configure runs, you need to watch the outputs from it. If everything runs smoothly you can go on and compile RCSLIb (and later EMC). run from rcslib/: make PLAT=nonrealtime all and make PLAT=realtime all to compile RCSLIB. If everything compiles ok, you can go on and compile EMC the same way: run from emc/: make PLAT=nonrealtime all and make PLAT=realtime all If ./configure fails, you should complain to the emc-devel list on sourceforge (see ...), on certain ./configure failures you can adjust the running manually. See ./configure --help for options you might use. 2nd way (the harder way) This is the original way of doing things, and it needs some adjustments from the user to make it run. Basically the make process uses 2 configure files (one for the realtime code, one for the nonrealtime code). The files used are based on the users installed system (e.g. linux and rtai) The configure files are found inside rcslib/etc, and are named pretty specific (e.g. linux_2_4_21.def for a 2.4.21 kernel-system). You need to find the closest to your installed system, and remember the names.(e.g. nonrealtime=linux_rtai.def, realtime=rtai.def) then you start compiling by running: `make PLAT=linux_rtai all` (of course substituting the value you discovered) and `make PLAT=rtai all` (of course substituting the value you discovered) |
