SuSE? is a RPM-based system, so it doesn't differ very much from a RedHat? distribution. At least one user (alex_joni) uses SuSE? 8.2 with emc and Emc2. In order to install you need to download a kernel source from http://www.kernel.org (stick with a 2.4 for now), the main reason for this is that SuSE?'s kernel package contains a lot of patches, and patching it further with a RT-system will cause errors. After getting the kernel source follow the RtaiInstall, then get the latest sources from SourceForge using CVS. (GettingEmc) From there it's pretty simple: ::compile RCSLIB ::make PLAT=linux_rtai all ::make PLAT=rtai all ::compile EMC ::make PLAT=linux_rtai all ::make PLAT=rtai all then enjoy running emc. |
